The enterprise Newtai Measurement and Control, which is located in the research institute, participated in the national COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control project, which has been approved and successfully passed the progress assessment

Recently, Shanghai Niutai Measurement and Control Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Niutai Measurement and Control”), a resident enterprise of the Shanghai Analytical Technology Industry Research Institute, participated in the “Highly Pathogenic Pathogen Nucleic Acid Full-Process Flexible Detection Unit and System” project, led by Academician Zhuang Songlin from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. This project, which is part of the Chinese Academy of Engineering’s special initiative for COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control, has been approved and successfully passed the first progress assessment.

The flexible nucleic acid detection system developed under this national project enables fully automated and intelligent operation across the entire detection process, including virus specimen handling, nucleic acid extraction, PCR amplification detection, waste material treatment and recycling. This system significantly reduces the workload of medical staff, lowers their risk of infection, shortens the detection time, and improves the accuracy of nucleic acid testing. Niutai Measurement and Control has actively participated in completing the detailed requirements and design plans for the highly pathogenic pathogen nucleic acid detection workstation. The project has now entered the material procurement and software design stages.

Shanghai Niutai Measurement and Control Technology Co., Ltd. was founded by Yang Peiqiang, an expert from the national “Thousand Talents Program.” The company settled in the Shanghai Tsinghua Tongfang Caohejing (Zhongshan) Science and Technology Park in February 2018.
