The International Conference on Porous Media Magnetic Resonance (MRPM) is one of the most prestigious global events in the field of magnetic resonance technology, first initiated in 1990 at the University of Bologna, Italy. Over the past three decades, MRPM has traveled the world, from Italy to the UK, Belgium, Norway, Germany, France, the USA, New Zealand, and finally China.

The 15th MRPM Conference was held in the picturesque city of Hangzhou, marking the first time the conference took place in China since its inception. The event combined online and offline formats over five days (21–26 August 2022). Online training was conducted on 21 August, online sessions ran from 22–24 August, and on-site meetings took place from 25–26 August at the Huabei Hotel by West Lake, offering a truly scenic academic experience.

The conference focused on the latest advances in magnetic resonance spectroscopy, relaxation, diffusion, and imaging across materials, petroleum, chemical, and biomedical systems. It attracted nearly 260 participants from home and abroad, including 42 internationally renowned experts and 69 faculty and students from leading Chinese universities. They delivered keynote and academic presentations across nine fields, including 1-Advances in Methodology and 2-Advances in Hardware and Software. The sessions were engaging, interactive, and fostered a vibrant academic atmosphere.

The successful organisation of this conference has promoted international collaboration and significantly enhanced China’s global influence in the magnetic resonance field.
