Over the past five years since the launch of the reform, China’s industrial workforce has flourished. On July 12, 2022, the “Focus Interview” segment featured the theme “The Power of Industrial Workers in the New Era.” It highlighted the growth stories of industrial workers from the Daqing Oilfield, showcasing how they have rooted themselves in the frontlines, refined their skills, created value, and followed the path of skill-based success to contribute to the country’s manufacturing strategy.

To build a workforce that meets modern production requirements, it is not only essential to strengthen the training of frontline workers, but also to attract more highly educated and highly skilled talents into the industrial workforce. Zhao Yu is one of the high-skilled talents introduced by the Daqing Oilfield.

In 2015, Zhao Yu graduated with a Ph.D. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Northeast Petroleum University and became an employee at Daqing Oilfield. Zhao Yu works at the Daqing Oilfield Exploration and Development Research Institute, which is responsible for scientific research and design in oil and gas exploration and development, a critical link in oil production.

The research equipment used by Dr. Zhao Yu in the segment is the MacroMR12-150H-I+ High-Temperature High-Pressure Custom Module from Suzhou Newmai Analysis. By installing a specialized NMR high-temperature high-pressure clamp, this equipment can conduct ultra-high-pressure gas and liquid seepage studies on samples, providing an effective technical means for understanding the fluid migration patterns in oil and gas development. The high-temperature high-pressure module can rapidly, non-destructively, and accurately analyze the pore structure distribution characteristics of unconventional core samples. It simulates the high-temperature and high-pressure environment of deep strata by combining external temperature, fluid, pressure, and other multi-field coupled systems. For a 1-inch standard core sample, it can simulate a confining pressure of up to 70MPa and a temperature of 150°C, allowing for real-time visualization of changes in internal pore structures and fluid distribution characteristics, as well as quantifying the fluid transport capacity. This technology enables a series of scientific applications to study the formation and migration mechanisms of tight oil and gas, providing reliable data for guiding design and development plans.

Suzhou Newmai Analysis Instruments Co., Ltd. has been focused on the development and application of “nuclear magnetic resonance” technology since its establishment in 2003. As a high-tech enterprise, Newmai Analysis always adheres to the innovation-driven development strategy. The company has undertaken national major instrument and equipment projects and Jiangsu Province’s science and technology achievement transformation projects, mastering core technologies and developing a series of professional low-field NMR devices with independent intellectual property rights. These products are now widely applied in energy exploration, polymer materials, textile industry, life sciences, and agricultural food industries, filling a gap in the domestic market and receiving unanimous recognition from customers. The company has experienced strong growth and is highly competitive in the domestic low-field NMR niche market.
