At the 23rd International Drying Symposium, held from 22nd to 25th November, Niumag engineers delivered an impressive presentation on how Low-Field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (LF-NMR) technology can enhance efficiency and promote environmental sustainability in drying processes.

Since its inception in 1978 by Professor Arun S. Mujumdar of McGill University, the biennial International Drying Symposium (IDS) has grown into the world’s largest and most influential academic conference dedicated to drying science and technology. IDS has played a pivotal role in advancing global knowledge and fostering collaboration between academia and industry in this field.

During the symposium, Niumag engineers presented a report entitled “Enhancing Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability in Drying Processes through Low-Field NMR Technology”. The presentation provided international researchers with in-depth insights into the innovative applications of LF-NMR, sparking strong interest and earning high praise from the global research community.

In her report, the Niumag engineer explained the unique advantages of LF-NMR in drying applications. She highlighted how its non-destructive testing capabilities enable real-time monitoring of moisture states and migration within materials during drying, offering powerful technical support for process optimisation.

Through multiple practical case studies, she demonstrated LF-NMR’s wide-ranging applications in the agri-food sector. For instance, in food processing, the technology enables precise measurement of internal moisture content and distribution, helping optimise drying parameters to improve both flavour and shelf life.

The presentation not only showcased LF-NMR’s innovative role in drying technology but also outlined its future potential. She noted that with ongoing advances and growing demand, LF-NMR is poised to play an even greater role in driving greener, smarter, and more efficient drying technologies.

This symposium not only provided Niumag with an international platform to showcase its innovations and expertise but also created opportunities to build new partnerships with professionals across different countries and regions. Leveraging this momentum, Niumag will continue to strengthen its R&D efforts, introduce more cutting-edge technologies, and enhance collaboration with global peers—actively contributing to the advancement and sustainable development of drying science and technology.
