Recently, the results of the “2022 China Commercial Association Science and Technology Award” were officially announced. The project “Research and Application of Quantitative Detection Technology for Adulteration in Animal-Derived Foods,” co-applied by Suzhou Newmai Analysis, Nanjing Food and Drug Supervision and Inspection Institute, and Nanjing Agricultural University, won the first prize of the China Commercial Association Science and Technology Award.

The “China Commercial Association Science and Technology Award” is an award approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Science and Technology Award Office. It includes the “National Commercial Technology Advancement Award” as a subcategory and is eligible for nomination for the National Science and Technology Awards. The application for this award gathered numerous universities, research institutes, and companies from across the country.

This award aims to recognize units and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to scientific research, technological innovation, achievement promotion, and high-tech industrialization in the national commercial sector, thereby promoting scientific and technological progress in the commercial industry.

Food safety, as the saying goes “food is the paramount necessity of the people,” has become a global public health focus. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the socio-economic level, the demand for meat products has also risen. Some unscrupulous businesses, in pursuit of more profit, have adulterated meat products, severely infringing upon consumers’ legitimate rights and significantly jeopardizing food safety.

Against this backdrop, Suzhou Newmai Analysis has focused its product development on “food preservation, storage, quality, processing techniques, and recipe evaluation and determination.” Leveraging the green, efficient, simple, and non-destructive testing advantages of low-field nuclear magnetic resonance technology, its products have been widely applied in the food industry.

The project “Research and Application of Quantitative Detection Technology for Adulteration in Animal-Derived Foods” co-applied by Suzhou Newmai Analysis, Nanjing Food and Drug Supervision and Inspection Institute, and Nanjing Agricultural University, primarily targets unlawful activities such as adulteration, water-injection meat, and fat-injection meat in animal-derived foods. It developed synergistic identification technology based on nucleic acids and characteristic peptide segments, as well as low-field nuclear magnetic resonance rapid detection technology based on relaxation fingerprinting and chemometrics. These achievements are applied in grassroots regulatory frontlines, providing technical support for food safety supervision. Over the years, Suzhou Newmai Analysis has maintained close cooperation with domestic universities and research institutions, promoting technological innovation through industry-university-research integration, complementing advantages, and comprehensively improving product quality. The first prize of the China Commercial Association Science and Technology Award is a result of this deep cooperation, marking another innovative collaboration between Suzhou Newmai Analysis and universities, and a new milestone in the company’s development of scientific research teams and achievements.

This prestigious award is not only a high recognition of Suzhou Newmai Analysis’s scientific research capabilities but also highlights the innovative role of low-field nuclear magnetic resonance technology in food quality and safety supervision. Moving forward, Suzhou Newmai Analysis will continue to adhere to its innovation-driven development strategy, firmly pursuing scientific research and innovation, providing strong technical support and guarantees for the company’s high-quality development, and contributing to the realization of the Healthy China strategy.
