[Ten Years of Reflection] “Rewind to June 28, 10 years ago, on that drizzly day, our old Liu and more than a dozen colleagues filled four large trucks with goods and arrived at the underground parking lot of Suzhou Software Park. The parking lot was full of dust, and it was a complete mess. There was an inexplicable sense of sadness in our hearts,” said Mr. Yang Peiqiang, the founder and chairman of Niutai Analysis, emotionally at the annual meeting.
“On this road filled with hardship, confusion, and uncertainty, we could only feel our way forward, stumbling to reach today.” Ten years have passed in the blink of an eye, but for Niutai, these ten years have been like the sharpening of a sword—looking back reminds us to stay true to our original intentions. Starting from 2020, we begin another decade, and how Niutai will achieve even greater breakthroughs in the next ten years can be summarized in these words: “Dare to take responsibility, be pragmatic, pursue excellent products, and provide sincere service.”
On January 8, 2020, Suzhou Niutai Analysis Instruments Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Niutai”) held its 2019-2020 annual meeting at the Ramada Hotel in Suzhou. The theme of the meeting was “Dare to Take Responsibility, Be Pragmatic, Pursue Excellent Products, and Provide Sincere Service.” Professor Liu Tangyan from Tongji University and other guests, along with more than 160 employees from Suzhou Niutai, Shanghai Niutai, Suzhou TaiNiu Testing, and Shanghai TaiNiu Sci-Tech Education, attended the event. The meeting was divided into two parts: awards and recognition, and an artistic evening performance. The attendees reviewed the past, analyzed the present, and planned for the future.

▲ Mr. Yang Peiqiang, Founder and Chairman of Niutai Analysis, delivering his speech
From the 600-square-meter underground parking lot in Suzhou High-tech Zone in 2009 to the current 7,000-square-meter Hu Guan Industrial Park, Niutai has experienced significant changes over the past 10 years, and it was this very reason that made Mr. Yang Peiqiang, the founder and chairman of Niutai Analysis, deeply moved during his speech.
“At that time, we could never have imagined that Niutai today would be filled with guests and have a team of over 160 people. Back then, no one guided us on the road to development. On this road full of hardships, confusion, and uncertainty, we could only feel our way forward. Sometimes, there wasn’t even a stone to step on, and we faced unpredictable difficulties. But we overcame them and managed to make it to where we are today.”

The accumulation of scientific instrument technology is never quick; it often requires decades, if not centuries, of effort and inheritance.
In 1958, Professor Wu Xuewen of East China Normal University first demonstrated nuclear magnetic resonance using equipment he built himself;
In 1990, the nuclear magnetic resonance research and development team at East China Normal University developed the first nuclear magnetic resonance experimental instrument. At the time, Mr. Yang, who was a graduate student, was one of the team members, laying the technological foundation for his future entrepreneurship;
In 1999, Niutai’s original prototype won the First Prize for National Physics Teaching Equipment;
In 2003, Niutai Analysis was officially established in Shanghai, marking the beginning of the commercialization of domestic low-field NMR technology;
In 2009, Niutai Analysis’s R&D factory was established in Suzhou, officially entering the fast track of rapid development.
Niutai’s 70 years of technological accumulation and three generations of relentless effort represent the difficult exploratory period of Chinese analytical instruments and also serve as a microcosm of China’s socialist exploration in the 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Ms. Li Xianghong, Vice General Manager of Niutai Analysis, presenting the 2019 Company Summary
If Mr. Yang’s speech was more about looking back, Ms. Li’s was about analyzing the present and planning for the future. Ms. Li Xianghong, Vice General Manager of Niutai, presented the 2019 company summary to all Niutai employees.
Despite the overall economic downturn in 2019, the low-field NMR market grew slower than in previous years, but with everyone’s united efforts, Niutai still achieved impressive results. In June, Niutai Analysis won the “Charming Technology Team” award in Suzhou, and in October, another Niutai product won the “BCEIA Gold Award.”
Ms. Li led everyone to acknowledge the achievements, confront the challenges, analyze difficulties, consolidate resources, and proposed the working principles for the next year: “Dare to take responsibility, be pragmatic, pursue excellent products, and provide sincere service,” while setting the 2020 work goals and priorities.

Awards Ceremony
Around 3:00 PM, the year-end awards ceremony was held as scheduled, recognizing and rewarding teams and individuals who showed outstanding performance and positive work attitudes throughout the year. The awards included “Star of Research,” “Star of Diligence,” “Star of Production,” and “Niutai New Star.” The top performers in each category were honored. The “Niutai Star” award was selected from more than 160 employees, and the “Topsales” award was earned by the best-performing sales colleagues based on their achievements.
The most significant awards were the “General Manager’s Special Contribution Award,” which was given to outstanding individuals who made remarkable contributions to key projects, and the “Excellent Team” award, which inspired everyone to practice the collaborative spirit of “1+1>2.”

The development of Niutai is inseparable from the employees who have been through thick and thin with the company. Special awards were presented to employees with 3, 5, 8, and 10 years of service. The employees who received the 10-year service award are a reminder of what Mr. Yang mentioned in his speech: “Most of the dozen or so employees who came to Suzhou’s underground parking lot with us back then are still with the company.” The watches given as awards symbolize time and the old decade gone by, welcoming the new decade ahead with hope.

Mr. Yang makes a toast and sends New Year’s blessings
The final part was the toast, where Mr. Yang represented the company and raised a glass with all the guests and employees present, offering New Year’s blessings.
After the speeches, reports, and awards, it was time to relax. Indeed, the “Niutai Spring Festival Gala” kicked off with a chorus of “My Country and I.”

More than 90% of Niutai’s 160 employees have backgrounds in science and engineering. They are usually seen working seriously and focused, but when it comes to showcasing their talents, they all have their “little volcanoes”—singing, playing instruments, performing crosstalk, dancing, and more, showing unlimited creativity.

Chorus “My Country and I”
“My Country and I” was sung with deep affection, full of love. We love our great and powerful country. It is the peaceful and stable environment that allows us to work peacefully and live joyfully here.

Guitar Performance “Our Time”
The guitar performance by the young men of the company earned endless applause. The melodious sound of the guitar evoked memories of beautiful campus days. Though many years have passed since graduation, the fortunate thing is that the Niutai family is just like our campus days—everyone is not just a colleague but a close friend who can talk about anything.

Chorus “Friends” with audience lighting up the sky with phones
“Friends” raised the atmosphere to its first climax. The audience lit up their phones, creating a sparkling sky, interacting with the performers on stage.

Professor Liu Tangyan from Tongji University recites a poem “Niutai Flying Snow”
Professor Liu Tangyan from Tongji University, a long-time friend of Niutai, not only has outstanding achievements in academics but also excels in literature, especially in poetry. During this gathering, Professor Liu recited the poem “Niutai Flying Snow,” which was particularly fitting for the winter season.

Hulusi Performance
Professor Yan from Suzhou TaiNiu led the department’s employees in performing “Hulusi Performance.” It was revealed that all of them were Professor Yan’s apprentices, learning the instrument in their spare time. Work hard, live joyfully—this is the motto of “Niutai brothers.”

Song “I Believe”
Three Niutai colleagues passionately performed “I Believe,” their powerful voices fully expressing their love for work and life. We believe more than anyone in the significance of hard work and striving for success.

Song “The Light of China”
The chorus of “The Light of China” was magnificent and grand, singing of our love for the Chinese nation and the pride we feel as Chinese people. The performance also embodied the spirit of unity and cooperation, which is exactly the work ethic of the “Niutai brothers.”

Song Medley “The Overture of the Times”
The management team brought the medley of “The Overture of the Times,” as the final program of the evening.
From “Beijing’s Golden Mountain” to “Sweet Honey,” followed by “The Sound of the Waves,” “My Future is Not a Dream,” “Descendants of the Dragon,” and finally “The Most Dazzling National Style,” this medley covered representative songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s, bringing the evening’s atmosphere to its peak. Time is the best witness, seeing the rise and leap of each era. In the evening, employees from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s conveyed their thoughts and emotions through singing, reflecting on the changes of time, yet the unchanging truth is—We are all dream chasers.

The 2019-2020 Niutai Analysis Annual Meeting ended successfully amidst applause, laughter, and cheers from the audience. The year 2020 will mark the beginning of a new decade. The future is unpredictable, but the road ahead is clear. Let’s embrace our responsibilities, be pragmatic, pursue excellent products, and provide sincere service. The stars do not ask the traveler, so come on! Niutai brothers, let’s seize the day and live without regrets!
